Indiase arbeidsters uitgebuit door H&M en C&A
De modeketens H&M en C&A laten veel van hun kleding maken in ontwikkelingslanden. Tot nu toe werd altijd stellig beweerd dat hierbij geen arbeiders worden uitgebuit, maar nu blijkt dat dit wel het geval is.
Uit onderzoek van de Volkskrant blijkt dat de KPR Mill textielfabriek in India, waar zowel kledinggigant H&M als C&A een deel van hun collectie laat produceren, arbeidsters uitbuit. De krant kwam tot deze conclusie toen zij de fabriek, vlakbij de textielstad Coimbatore, samen met ontwikkelingsorganisatie SOMO bezocht.
Tijdens het bezoek aan de KPR Mill werd duidelijk dat de circa negenduizend meisjes en vrouwen die in de fabriek werken, en die volgens de directie minimaal 16 jaar oud zijn, na werktijd worden opgesloten in hostels op het ommuurde fabrieksterrein. Daarnaast wordt er ook minimaal een kwart van hun loon ingehouden om te sparen voor de bruidsschat. De arbeidsters krijgen dit geld pas uitgekeerd als ze drie jaar in de fabriek hebben gewerkt. Verder zou het bedrijf geen arbeidscontracten geven en ook contact met vakbonden tegenhouden.
H&M erkent na aanleiding van het onderzoek dat er zowel in 2009 als in 2010 kleding is besteld bij de fabriek. Ook liet de modeketen weten dat de samenwerking in 2009 aanvankelijk werd stopt gezet vanwege de arbeidsomstandigheden. Volgens H&M waren deze problemen begin dit jaar opgelost en besloten zij opnieuw zaken te doen, maar naar aanleiding van de nieuwe bevindingen heeft H&M aangekondigd de fabriek opnieuw te bezoeken.
Ook C&A bevestigde dat KPR Mill sinds kort kleding voor hen produceert. Een woordvoerder van de modeketen liet weten dat C&A zo snel mogelijk zal stoppen met de samenwerking.

First of all, the news is totally fake.
I have visited the company KPR Mill few times & I am sure about what I am saying.
The factory was audited by many of the trade organisations including but not limited to ” ETI, WRAP, SA800 & a lot more”
Moreover many retailers like C&A, H&M & a lot more have their own audit. (Some audits conducted for 3 days!!)
Further the company is a Public Limited company & listed in Indian Share markets. Also there are lot of Government labour welfare inspections, Inspector of factories act & a lot more. Is the SOMO person who has visited factory has any special eye or some superior vision? He has not broken into the factory for investigation. The factory management has accepted his request & shown him the factory. They didn’t hide or protest to show anything. Its the behaviour of the SOMO person to create a wrong news & get popular in overnight.
I know KPR is not the company focused on money. They are focused on the values.
I’m sure in few days KPR will make us all realise about the fake news.
Yes. I too agree. They are paying good. They keep the workforce as family. They have university also in same area. There is no abuse. The journal was mad to create this.

So how many hours a day do they work?
How many hours a day do they stay at the factory?
How many days do they work each week?
How many free days do they have each year?
How much do they earn every month?
I have worked in KPR mill previously. It is a good factory. We never worked more than 8 hours. We never stayed more than 8 hours. We worked only 6 days X 8 hours = 48 hours / week. We have sunday off, national holidays & have 2 weeks continous leave to go to native. It heaven. We never felt being in a factory. Its a family & college. They paid good salary. Healthy food. Best safety & accomodation for girls. I’m now working as a teacher only because of the education provided by KPR. They changed my life in to good. I respect & thank KPR for this. Its a shame that the wrong news targetted on such a good facility.
To make more clear All will have sunday holiday at Garment factory & Mill workers will have 1 day leave per week (Any 1 day of week).
If really dutch men are more concern about these abuses , Preach your C&A and other traders not to go to Bangladesh , Vietnam and Militery ruled China. THe Working conditons are very much worsed comared to these country. first of all europens should live in hard condition and see the real life. if really you people wanted to help to the soceity Please go to Africa and do some sociel work. when we want to enjoy cheaper garments then we need countries like this, and when a 3 Euro garment pricesd with 25 euro for our Chirstmas will it be ok for us ??? just think ..
